F.S.C.A.R. Project: “Soldiers Freedom Outdoors: Horses for Heroes”.

This program serves veterans suffering from the hidden wounds of war. It provides a home away from home for those who need an escape from the responsibilities of everyday ice. Horses for Hero’s ofers veterans, and active-duty service members, horseback riding as an activity to begin the journey toward healing. The goal. Is to raise $5,000 to help feed the horses. Feed is the greatest expense of horse maintenance. Other expenses include: tack, grooming equipment, pasture, trail maintenance, and veterinary and farrier services.

The Theme this year for F.S.C.A.R. Is “Hooves of Freedom.” There are countless ways that you can help to honor and give back to those who served, and those who continue to serve, our country.

The Horses, The Soldiers and the Community

Everyone can help by purchasing the State President Pin’s, Coins and Revolutionary War toy Horses; getting the word out about C.A.R. and  Hooves of Freedom; designing an educational game or coloring page for ”The Orange Blossom” (that teaches about therapy horses); volunteering at a horse therapy program or horse farm, or giving needed supplies and aid to active duty service personnel and veterans.

This year, the National Project will support the Dr. Joseph Warren Foundation (DJWF). The DJWF is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the legacy of “America’s Founding Martyr”, Dr. Joseph Warren. Funds raised from the National Project will go to support the creation of a Dr. Joseph Warren documentary film, highlighting and honoring the sacrifices and contributions during the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Dr. Joseph Warren exemplifies values of respect, service, and integrity and a commitment to freedom. This project allows N.S.C.A.R. to engage with an essential chapter of our nation’s history as we celebrate its active 250th anniversary celebrations.

This year’s National Theme is Revolutionary Valor. This theme was chosen to highlight the valiant spirit that C.A.R. cultivates within its membership and is a hint towards the 250th Anniversary of the USA and its ongoing celebrations. This theme is meant to instill the same values of our patriot ancestors in the members of C.A.R. today.

As a National Society, we will be working toward the goal of logging 25,000 service hours to show our “Revolutionary Valor” in our local communities. To log your service hours, visit nscar.org, and look under the National Project and Program tab for more information.
